Cloudbase Coriolis

Overview

Coriolis is migration and disaster recovery software for workloads of any size. Cloudbase Solutions has partnered with Schwarz Digits Cloud to add STACKIT as a supported Coriolis endpoint.

Coriolis performs software-defined migrations of virtual workloads among cloud and virtualization solutions at scale. It also supports DRaaS scenarios, helping organizations move from traditional virtualization technologies to modern cloud infrastructure.

Coriolis automates cloud migration in a scalable, reliable way and reduces the manual, error-prone steps that are difficult to document consistently.

Typical capabilities

• Agentless: No Coriolis component needs to be installed on guest VMs, and guest credentials are not required for migration or replication. Physical-to-virtual migrations still require an agent.
• Scalable architecture: Any number of migrations or replicas can be performed at a given time.
• Data replication with no workload downtime: Running VMs can be replicated without affecting business continuity when the underlying infrastructure supports live snapshots.
• Secure protocols: Coriolis performs external API and data-transfer operations through secure protocols such as HTTPS and SSH.

Typical fit criteria

• VM migration between hypervisors: Supports migration with built-in OS morphing.
• Minimal downtime and disruption: The source VM continues to run during data synchronization, without service impact.
• Cross-site VM disaster recovery: Continuously synchronizes a running workload’s storage from a source cloud to an independent destination cloud and supports creating a destination VM from the synchronized storage if the source fails.
