Platform Team and Enablement

Last updated on

The platform team provides a paved path for teams building and operating workloads on STACKIT. It treats the landing zone, automation, guardrails, and developer experience as a product with named users, an owned backlog, and measurable outcomes.

  • Maintain shared STACKIT account, identity, network, security, and cost-management foundations.
  • Provide reusable Infrastructure as Code modules, reference architectures, and approved service patterns.
  • Offer self-service onboarding paths with appropriate policy guardrails and audit evidence.
  • Publish platform documentation, service status information, support routes, and change notices.
  • Prioritize platform improvements from workload-team feedback, incident learning, security findings, and adoption data.

Enablement combines the technical path with the operational path. Teams need documented access patterns, onboarding criteria, deployment guidance, observability standards, and a way to request new capabilities. Communities of practice, office hours, and working examples help turn platform standards into everyday delivery practice.

The platform team should avoid becoming a manual provisioning gate. Where controls are stable, embed them in templates, policy checks, and automated workflows so teams can move independently within approved boundaries.
