Skills and Change Management

Last updated on

A Target Operating Model changes how teams make decisions, deliver changes, and operate services. Skills and change management make those changes lasting as teams adopt STACKIT capabilities and take responsibility for migrated workloads.

Assess each affected role against the target practices, including:

  • STACKIT account and IAM concepts, network and security guardrails, and service support boundaries.
  • Infrastructure as Code, automated delivery, and configuration-management practices.
  • Workload observability, incident response, backup and recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Cost accountability, tagging, forecasting, and optimization decisions.

Turn the gaps into role-based learning paths with hands-on practice. A platform engineer, an application operator, and a service owner need different depth and evidence of readiness.

Use each migration wave as an adoption checkpoint. Pair the incoming workload team with platform and security specialists, rehearse operational scenarios, and confirm handover readiness before hypercare ends. Capture lessons in the next wave’s onboarding materials and platform backlog.

Publish the target roles, support routes, decision forums, and expected team behaviours. Regular communication should explain why a change is needed, which teams it affects, and how adoption feedback will influence the operating model.
