IaC Orchestration

Last updated on

As STACKIT environments scale across development, staging, and production boundaries, standard IaC configurations can become redundant. IaC Orchestration ensures configurations remain DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) while managing complex deployment dependencies.

Orchestration Standard

Section titled “Orchestration Standard”
  • Terragrunt: Wraps standard Terraform or OpenTofu commands to provide advanced remote state management, module execution dependencies, and hierarchical variable inheritance for STACKIT projects.

Implementation Architecture

Section titled “Implementation Architecture”

  1. Restructure your existing STACKIT Terraform modules into reusable backend components.

  2. Create a hierarchical folder structure (dev, stage, prod) driven by terragrunt.hcl files.

  3. Utilize Terragrunt to orchestrate the sequential deployment of STACKIT networks, followed by SKE clusters, and finally managed databases.
