The STACKIT Terraform Provider enables platform teams to define, provision, and maintain STACKIT cloud infrastructure using declarative HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL).
Service Overview
Section titled “Service Overview”- Eliminates Manual Overhead: Prevents configuration drift and errors caused by manual portal interactions (“ClickOps”).
- Scalable Infrastructure: Enables modular, reusable blueprints across Dev, Test, and Production environments.
- CI/CD Integration: Connects seamlessly with pipelines like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
Technical Details
Section titled “Technical Details”- Declarative Coverage: Supports provisioning of VMs, Kubernetes (SKE), DNS, Networks, and Managed Data Services.
- IAM & Access: Manages service accounts, API tokens, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) via code.
- Drift Management: Automatically detects differences between defined state and actual cloud resources during
terraform plan.
Limitations & Constraints
Section titled “Limitations & Constraints”- Day-1 Parity Gap: Newly released STACKIT Portal features may experience minor delays before becoming available in the provider.
- Complex Identity Integration: Deep cross-tenant identity federations and initial OIDC setups require portal/support interaction.
- Legacy Imports: Importing pre-existing, manually created resources into state can be complex and process-heavy.
