Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is the foundational layer for provisioning STACKIT landing zone resources, including Virtual Networks, STACKIT Kubernetes Engine (SKE) clusters, and managed databases.

## Approved IaC Providers

- **Terraform**: Represents the industry standard for declarative infrastructure provisioning, supported by an official STACKIT provider.
- **OpenTofu**: Serves as the open-source drop-in replacement for Terraform, maintaining full compatibility with the STACKIT provider ecosystem.
- **Pulumi**: Allows engineering teams to provision STACKIT resources using general-purpose programming languages like TypeScript and Python.

## Core Provisioning Steps

<Steps>

1. Authenticate your CLI environment using a STACKIT Service Account with appropriate project
   permissions.

2. Define the desired state of your STACKIT networks and SKE clusters within your
   preferred IaC tool.

3. Execute the IaC plan and apply phases to instantiate the infrastructure on
   the STACKIT platform safely.
