Developer portals enhance developer experience (DevEx) by providing a customizable software catalog, UI-driven scaffolding (Golden Paths), and centralized visibility into the microservices ecosystem hosted on STACKIT.

## Recommended Portals

- **Backstage**: Provides a highly extensible plugin architecture for building custom developer interfaces and unifying STACKIT infrastructure insights.
- **Port**: Delivers a no-code/low-code approach to building internal developer portals, making Port ideal for rapid STACKIT catalog deployments.

## Portal Setup

<Steps>

1. Provision a dedicated STACKIT Kubernetes Engine (SKE) cluster to host the developer portal
   backend.

2. Integrate the developer portal with your Git provider to enable UI-driven scaffolding
   (Golden Paths).

3. Connect the developer portal to your STACKIT billing and telemetry APIs to
   surface resource metrics directly to developers.
