STACKIT Edge Cloud (STEC) manages distributed Kubernetes edge clusters across remote customer facilities.

## Service Overview
- **Remote Edge Orchestration**: Centralizes control over remote edge clusters in factories and retail stores via STACKIT Portal.
- **Full Offline Operation**: Edge clusters continue operating locally during internet connection outages.
- **Hardened Security**: Immutable read-only OS image without open SSH ports reduces local attack surfaces.

## Technical Details
- **Architecture**: Powered by Talos Linux running on customer-provided hardware.
- **Communication**: Encrypted outbound HTTPS tunnel connecting to STACKIT APIs.

## Limitations & Constraints
- **Customer Hardware Ops**: Physical server hardware provisioning and local edge backups are managed by the customer.
